Biography

Duško Radović was a Serbian writer, poet, aphorist and journalist, and one of the best-loved children’s authors in Yugoslavia. He was born in Niš and spent most of his life in Belgrade. He edited the children’s magazine Poletarac and the children’s programmes of Radio Belgrade and Belgrade Television, and he wrote songs, stories and plays for them. His poems for children are full of humour and play with words, and they speak to children as equals.

From 1975 until his death he wrote and read the morning radio programme Good Morning, Belgrade on Studio B. Every morning he spoke to the city in short, witty and often biting aphorisms about its people, its streets and its daily life, and they were soon repeated all over Belgrade and gathered in books. He died in Belgrade in 1984.
